ABSTRACT Analysis of 2D magnetohydrodynamic flow of viscous fluid over a magnetized multi-physical curved mechanism is numerically conducted. The flow equations consist of a magnetic field transport, Maxwell’s equations, energy equation and concentration equation. Governing model is generated and establishes the boundary layer equations. Numerical computation by the Keller-Box shooting method is implemented with Jacobi’s iterative technique. The flow behaviours are anticipated against most interesting parameters. The novelty of this study focuses on the mathematical development of the flow problem with significant results. These results are applicable in manufacturing of stretchable materials.

The magnetohydrodynamic flow of viscous fluid and heat transfer examination between permeable disks by AGM and FEM

This paper studied a two-dimensional steady, laminar, and incompressible viscous fluid between two porous disks in outer magnetic amplitude. The data is then displayed in tables and graphs to examine velocity and temperature profiles for different flow parameters such as Reynolds number, Hartmann number, Prandtl number, and slip coefficient. In the absence of slip, the results were quite similar to previous findings.

Magnetohydrodynamic viscous fluid flow and heat transfer in a circular pipe under an externally applied constant suction

An analytical investigation of two-dimensional heat transfer behavior of an axisymmetric incompressible dissipative viscous fluid flow in a circular pipe is considered. The flow is subjected to an externally applied uniform suction over the pipe wall in the transverse direction and a constant magnetic field opposite to the wall. The reduced Navier-Stokes equations in the cylindrical system are applied for the velocity and temperature fields. Constant wall temperature is considered as the thermal boundary condition. The velocity components are expressed into stream function and its solution is acquired by the Homotopy analysis method (HAM). The effects of magnetic body force parameter(M), suction Reynolds number (Re), Prandtl number (Pr)and Eckert number (Ec) on velocity and temperature are examined and are presented in a graphical frame. Streamlines, isotherms and pressure contours are likewise pictured. It is observed that with increasing suction Reynold number decelerates axial flow, whereas it enhances the radial flow. The temperature distribution increases with an increase in Prandtl number, whereas it decreases with an increase in Eckert number (viscous dissipation effect).

To solve the problem, the equations of boundary layer in the curvilinear coordinate system. x,θ,y, were applied. The equations of the boundary layer were solved analytically with the use of the small-parameter method. The formulas determine the field of velocity and pressure.

Computer extended series and homotopy analysis method for the solution of MHD flow of viscous fluid between two parallel porous plates

The study of steady two-dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) viscous fluid between two parallel porous plates is considered. The governing equations of the flow problem are reduced into nonlinear ordinary differential equation by using similarity transformations. The resulting equation of the problem is solved by using computer extended series (CES) and homotopy analysis method (HAM) with polynomial coefficients. The universal coefficients in the low Reynolds number perturbation expansion are generated. The analytic continuation of series solution unravel the flow structure which could not be fully revealed in earlier perturbation as well as numerical studies. The present analysis of the flow problem enables us to extend the study for higher Reynolds number R=10 to 30. Both the solutions are found to be an excellent agreement and the results are demonstrated graphically.

Thermo-diffusion, diffusion-thermo and chemical reaction effects on MHD flow of viscous fluid in divergent and convergent channels

This article witnesses the magneto-hydrodynamic flow of viscous fluid in a channel with non-parallel walls. Heat and mass transfer effects are taken into account. Thermo-diffusion and diffusion-thermo effects are considered to analyze the behavior of temperature and concentration profiles. Influences of first order chemical reaction are also studied. Problem is formulated for velocity, temperature and concentration fields using similarity transforms. Analytical and numerical solutions are obtained using well known Homotopy Analysis Method and Adomian׳s Decomposition Method (ADM). A numerical solution using Runge-Kutta method is also presented for the sake of comparison. Comprehensive graphical analysis coupled with discussions is carried out to study the effects of different emerging parameters on temperature and concentration profiles. Graphical aid is also used to present the variations in Nusselt and Sherwood numbers. A comparison of the solutions obtained in this article to the one available in open literature is also the part of study.

Magnetohydrodynamic Flow of Viscous Fluid over a Non-Linearly Stretching Sheet

In this paper, the Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Flow of Viscous Fluid over a Nonlinear Stretching Sheet is investigated numerically. The partial differential equations governing the flow are reduced to a non linear ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformations. The resulting transformed equations are numerically solved by an explicit finite difference scheme known as the Keller Box Method. The velocity profiles are determined and the effects of the magnetic parameter and non linear stretching parameter on the flow characteristics are investigated. In addition to this the numerical results for the local skin friction coefficients are computed. Comparison with the exact solution and previously reported analytic solutions is made and excellent agreement is noted. Moreover, the velocity profile obtained by Keller box method is in a better agreement to the exact solution than by the Homotopy Analysis Method. It is also found that, an increase in the magnetic parameter or non-linearity parameter causes a decrease in the velocity profile and velocity distribution.

Dufour and Soret effects on MHD flow of viscous fluid between radially stretching sheets in porous medium

The aim of this paper is to examine the Dufour and Soret effects on the two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) steady flow of an electrically conducting viscous fluid bounded by infinite sheets. An incompressible viscous fluid fills the porous space. The mathematical analysis is performed in the presence of viscous dissipation, Joule heating, and a first-order chemical reaction. With suitable transformations, the governing partial differential equations through momentum, energy, and concentration laws are transformed into ordinary differential equations. The resulting equations are solved by the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The convergence of the series solutions is ensured. The effects of the emerging parameters, the skin friction coefficient, the Nusselt number, and the Sherwood number are analyzed on the dimensionless velocities, temperature, and concentration fields.

Effects of thermal radiation on MHD viscous fluid flow and heat transfer over nonlinear shrinking porous sheet

This paper investigates the effects of thermal radiation on the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow and heat transfer over a nonlinear shrinking porous sheet. The surface velocity of the shrinking sheet and the transverse magnetic field are assumed to vary as a power function of the distance from the origin. The temperature dependent viscosity and the thermal conductivity are also assumed to vary as an inverse function and a linear function of the temperature, respectively. A generalized similarity transformation is used to reduce the governing partial differential equations to their nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations, and is solved numerically by using a finite difference scheme. The numerical results concern with the velocity and temperature profiles as well as the local skin-friction coefficient and the rate of the heat transfer at the porous sheet for different values of several physical parameters of interest.

Unsteady Magnetohydrodynamic Couette Flow between Two Plates When One of the Plates is Subjected to Random Pulses

Previous investigators have studied the unsteady hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic flow of viscous fluid between plates, cylinder etc. Generally these problems are solved assuming pressure gradient, external forces etc., of deterministic nature. 1-3) Recently attempts are being made to solve mechanical and hydrodynamic problems under stochastic body and surface forces. 4) Here we shall study a similar flow problem between two plates when one of the plates is kept fixed and the other is subjected to pulses of random strength applied at random instants of time parallel to the other plate. We can easily extend this solution to similar flow problems of elastic viscous fluid.
